Designed by renown naval architect, Ted Brewer and built in Taiwan – two marks of excellence! This yacht’s interior features beautiful Taiwanese honey teak and stunning joinery throughout. Brewer created an offshore cruising yacht here that is spacious, comfortable and a fine sailing vessel in both light & heavy air. It is in great condition and perfectly suitable for cruising families or charters.
The Mao Ta boats were built after the Taiwanese yard and Mr. Pancoe parted company (see “History” on the Pan Oceanic Owners website at www.panoceanic.net). Lady Diane is one of only a few boats built and was built to higher specifications and finish than her predecessors, the Pan Oceanics.
She crossed the Atlantic with her first owners who were French. Then for a few years she belonged to a St. Lucian owner of a marine store and subsequently sold to her present American owner in 1998 who has cruised the Caribbean extensively with her. All owners made upgrades and kept her in excellent condition.
Lady Diane provides comfortable living at anchor utilizing quiet wind generators and solar panels to power her 12 volt systems. The layout of this boat would lend itself nicely for a captained charter boat due to the separation of quarters. Her relatively shallow draft allows her to explore anchorages and gunkholes yet her design and displacement gives her the capacity to handle heavy weather sailing.
